The article is talking about Shona Grice who got her throat cut by her obsessed ex boyfriend as she told police 6 months before it haopened warning him about her then got fined for wasting police time as there was no hard evidence.  The article was publishes on the 19th March to inform the audience about the serious issue of crimes in the UK and for all of them to be taken seriously.

The purpose of the article is to infrom the ABC1 audience about the death of this young girl. The mode of address of this article in formal as it was published on The Independant and is reporting of what happened to this girl and her ex boyfriend. They use paragraphing and elaboarte coding for the higher abc1 audience to understand.

Reported quotes from Mr Lane following the accusations. He said: “I saw her slumped against the bed. She wasn’t moving. I saw blood on the bed and blood on the floor." he is using formal language to make it out like he didnt knwo what was happening althought the trail is still going on people believe that he killed her.

The headline catches the audiences attention as it very negative showing that if the police listened to her and if she had good enough evidence then she wouldnt be dead. The independant clearly empthaisises the effects of what happened as they didnt listen to her also using the word "teenager" makes the audience feel sad for her family as she was just young and had alot more life to live.

The use of emotive language in this article shows negative conntations of death "A teenager who was found dead with her throat slit months after reporting her ex-boyfriend to police was issued with a fine for wasting police time, a murder trial has heard."  shows that at the time is August people didnt kknow who killed her therefore the family was even more distraiuht to why anybody would do this. Also how she recieved a fine and there was no evidence to why she did recieved one makes you feel sympahty for her when she was alive.

The use of imagery shows a photograph of Shona looking very smiley and you wouldnt suspect that she was feeling worried about her ex boyfriend. Another pictures shows Micheal Lane the alleged killer of Shona Grice at the crown courth in Brighton looking quite smug this is one of the reasons why people think he killed Shona
